On April 15, the 2026 “Book Fragrance Hunan” National Reading and Copyright Publicity Campaign was launched at 711 Time Town in Suxian District, Chenzhou City. Liu Hongbing, Standing Committee Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Minister of the Publicity Department of the Provincial Party Committee, attended and delivered a speech.
Liu Hongbing noted that in recent years, Hunan has thoroughly studied and practiced Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, continuously improved working mechanisms, innovated approaches, established reading brands, and promoted exemplary campaigns. The concept of reading has taken root among the public, with an expanding readership and a growing atmosphere of “loving books, reading good books, and mastering reading.”
Liu emphasized the need to deeply recognize the importance of reading, fully implement the Regulation on Promoting Public Reading, prioritize universal access, strengthen digital empowerment, and persist in long-term efforts. Higher standards and more concrete measures should be adopted to advance public reading in a sustained and substantive manner. He called for coordinated efforts from all parties to further enhance event brands like the Yuelu Book Fair, deepen copyright protection and publicity, and integrate reading into daily life as a shared commitment for all.
The event unveiled the province’s 2026 key activities for public reading and copyright publicity, featuring sessions with renowned authors, youth dialogues, and copyright services to promote the ethos of “reading nourishes the mind, copyright safeguards innovation.”
