The development and promotion of model contract texts help standardize contract signing and performance while safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of all parties. To regulate the copyright market order in the field of book publishing, the National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC) previously released the “Standard Form of Book Publishing Contract” in 1992 and 1999, which drew wide attention and received positive feedback from rights holders and the publishing industry. In response to new developments in market conditions, the legal environment, and technology, and in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, the NCAC has revised the “Standard Form of Book Publishing Contract” and renamed it the “Model Copyright Licensing Contract (Book Publishing),” making it available for public use. The model contract further standardizes the copyright licensing process in book publishing and clearly defines the rights and obligations of all parties. It is an important step to implement the directives of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on strengthening intellectual property protection, addresses the need for promoting high-quality development of related industries, and provides strong support for advancing the “going global” of China’s cultural products.
